”学习中文很重要，但如果我们不知道为什么学，就可能会觉得累，也不开心。
“Learning Chinese is important, but if we don’t know why we are learning it, we may feel tired and unhappy.
那学习的时候，有没有目的，到底有什么不同呢？
So what difference does it make whether you study with a purpose or not?
今天我们就慢慢来说一说。

学习的时候，有目的就是我们知道自己为什么要学。
When we study, having a purpose means we know why we are learning.
比如有人学中文是因为要去中国旅游，他想在北京买东西，在上海问路，在西安点菜。
For example, someone learns Chinese because he wants to travel to China. He wants to buy things in Beijing, ask for directions in Shanghai, and order food in Xi'an.
也有人学中文是因为有中国朋友，他们想可以聊天，

说“你好”“谢谢”“我喜欢中国菜”。

还有的人学中文是因为工作需要，老板说会说中文会有机会。

你会想：“我为什么要学这个？

”这样学下去，心里很快会觉得空。

比如今天听一段中文音乐，听懂一个词就好。

又比如每天早上对自己说一句中文：“今天我要努力。

”这些都是目的。

小小的目的，会让学习变得有意思。

有时候，目的也可以是生活里的小梦想。

比如有的人喜欢看中国电视剧，他想看懂里面的人说话，不用看字幕。

那他就会很努力学听力。

每天打开书，看了几页，就不知道要继续还是停下来。

忘记了，就要重新学，结果花了很多时间，却看不到进步。

没有目的的时候，学习也很容易停在最开始的地方。
When there is no purpose, learning can easily stop at the beginning.
比如你只会说“你好”“再见”“谢谢”，然后不再往下学。
For example, you only know how to say "hello", "goodbye", and "thank you", and then stop learning.
因为你觉得学下去没有方向，所以就停了。

这样学习几年之后，你的水平还是没有变化。

学习中文也是一样。

没有目的的时候，你走了一点路，就觉得太长，太远，不知道走到哪里。

可是有了目的，你心里会亮，就会知道自己要去哪里。

学习没有目的的时候，还有一个问题，就是很容易被别的事情带走。

今天朋友叫你出去，你就放下学习。
If your friend asks you to go out today, put your studies aside.
明天你想玩手机，你也忘了学习。

那我们要怎么找到学习的目的呢？

其实很简单，就是先要问自己一个问题：“我为什么要学中文？

”这个问题的答案，不需要很大，也不需要很完美，只要是真实的就好。

”这样很好，你就知道学习的时候要多练习买东西、问路、点菜的话。

也有人会说：“我喜欢中国的歌，我想听懂歌词。
Some people would also say, “I like Chinese songs and I want to understand the lyrics.
”这个目的也很好，你就可以多听音乐，多学跟音乐相关的词。
"This is a good goal, too. You can listen to more music and learn more music-related words.
还有的人会说：“我想和中国同学做朋友。
Others would say, “I want to make friends with my Chinese classmates.
”这个目的也很清楚，你就可以多学日常的问候和简单的句子。

找到目的以后，你会发现学习变得轻松。
Once you find your purpose, you will find learning becomes easy.
因为每一个词、每一句话都和你的生活有关系。
Because every word and every sentence is related to your life.
比如你的目的就是旅游，你学“火车站”“飞机票”，这些词就会很快记住，
For example, if your purpose is to travel, you will remember the words "train station" and "airline ticket" quickly.
因为你知道自己会用到。
Because you know you'll need it.
学习的时候，大脑会告诉你：“这个很重要，要记住。
When you study, your brain tells you, “This is important, remember it.
”所以你就记得更牢。
So you remember it better.
目的还可以分成大目的和小目的。
Goals can also be divided into major goals and minor goals.
大目的可能是“我想在三年后用中文工作”，小目的就是“今天我要学五个新词”。
The big goal might be "I want to work in Chinese in three years", and the small goal might be "I want to learn five new words today".
如果只有大目的，你可能会觉得太远，看不到结果，就很容易放弃。
If you only have a big goal, you may feel that it is too far away and you cannot see the results, so it is easy to give up.
如果只有小目的，你可能会觉得太小，不知道整体方向。
If you only have a small purpose, you may feel it is too small and lose track of the overall direction.
所以最好是两个都有。

比如你的大目的就是可以去中国工作，你的小目的就是每天学一点点，每周练习一次口语。

在学习的路上，你也可以把目的写下来。

”每天学习之前看一看，你的心就会更坚定。

有时候你可能会说：“我现在还不知道我的目的是什么。

”没关系，你可以先从小目的开始。
"It's okay, you can start with small goals.
比如先学会自我介绍，先学会买东西。
For example, learn to introduce yourself first and learn to buy things first.
慢慢地，你会发现自己喜欢什么，然后你的大目的也会清楚。
Slowly, you’ll discover what you enjoy, and then your greater purpose will become clear.
目的不是一天就找到的，它会跟着你的生活变化。

当你心里有了这个理由，每天学习的时候就会有一种力量，这种力量会推着你往前走，
When you have this reason in your heart, you will have a kind of power when you study every day, and this power will push you forward.
让你一步一步接近你想要的地方。

有了学习的目的，还需要找到方法来坚持。
Once you have a purpose for learning, you also need to find a way to persist.
很多人开始的时候很有热情，但过了一段时间，就觉得累，不想继续。
Many people are very enthusiastic at the beginning, but after a while, they feel tired and don’t want to continue.
所以我们要学会保持动力。
So we have to learn to stay motivated.
动力不是一直都会有的，它需要我们一点点去找，也需要我们自己去创造。
Motivation is not always there. We need to find it little by little and create it ourselves.
一个简单的方法就是给自己设定小目标。
